Photodynamic Therapy

Sun worshippers, athletes who spend a lot of time outdoors, and men with bald heads in particular benefit from photodynamic therapy, which is the gold standard.

Before light exposure, a special cream containing the body’s own substance 5-ALA is applied, which accumulates in diseased skin cells. The subsequent exposure to visible red light (Aktilite®) drives only the diseased cells into cell death, while the healthy ones remain unharmed. A pleasant side effect: the skin looks years younger.

The treatment is scar-free and very well tolerated. In selected cases, stubborn warts can also benefit from photodynamic therapy.
